Bachelor of Economy

The Bachelor of Economics (BE) offered by the Faculty of Economics and Management, UKM is the pioneer among economics programs in Malaysia that has produced many well-known and prominent economists in the country. This programme is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills in the field of economics that allows graduates to apply economics-related knowledge in organisational planning, policy development, research and decision making in organisations. Focus areas include international and industrial economics, monetary and fiscal economics, econometrics, economic development and Islamic economics. PROGRAMME SUMMARY

Doctor of Philosophy and Masters of Science (Renewable Energy) are postgraduate programs able to conduct independent research and problem-solving in renewable energy. This program based on research work shall be supervised by a supervisor to consider the research skills and experiences  consistent with the candidate`s research field. All research proposals must be a defense by the candidate and approved by the committee appointed by the Institute. SERI offers the postgraduate program leading to the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science (Renewable Energy).

In addition, the program outcomes are designed to prepare graduates to achieve the program educational objectives in their work environment. Requirements of stakeholders especially the industry and employers include not only academic competencies but also humanity soft skills like communication skill, leadership, teamwork, management, entrepreneurial abilities, and others.

Programme Offered

Master of Science

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any institution of higher learning
    recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 2.75.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA 2.75, and 2 years working experience in a related field.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate not meeting Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 2.50 and 5 years of working experience in related field.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of foreign universities are recognized by the Senate for a non CGPA system, which equated as follows;

Foreign Universities Entry Requirements
1.   Morocco/Iran 12/20 (Minimum 10/20 with 2 years working experience)
2.  Iraq 65/100 (Minimum 55/100 with 2 years working experience)
3.  Syria/Jordan/Bangladesh/Libya/Japan 60/100
4. Other countries subject to the approval of the Postgraduate Committee

Programe Structure:
The students of Master program are required to register and pass six (6) credit hours of courses,
– Choose any of the courses listed by the Institutes (two (2) credit hours).
– Compulsory to register and pass a course of Research Methodology (Science and Technology) (four (4) credit hours.

Doctor of Philosophy

  1. Master’s Degree in the relevant field from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate; or

  2. Other qualifications equivalent to Master’s Degree or other qualifications recognized by Senate; or

  3. Students who are enrolled in a Masters full time at the University and approved by the Graduate Studies Committee to change his status to a Doctorate program with the approval of the Dean; or

  4. Bachelor of Science (Hons) with first class or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 3.67 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any recognized institutions by the Senate and for international candidates should meet the need for English – 500 (TOEFL) OR 6.0 (IELTS) **Fast Track

  5. For candidates who are not a Malaysian citizens are required for the additional terms:
    Attained the English language with Score of paper based TOEFL: Minimum 500, or Score of computer based TOEFL: Minimum 173, or Score of internet based TOEFL: Minimum 46, or Score of IELTS: Minimum Band 5

    Programe Structure:
